Remembering the Past
My story “A Person, A Friend, A Father,” is about the relationship between my dad and me. This story has many details of the relationship between my dad and me.
This piece was very fun to write. The piece allowed me to look back on my life and see how great it really was.
Writing this story was easy for me because the story was about me. This story is in journal style, which I learned when writing it. I also learned that incorporating memories makes the story more interesting. For example, if I just said my dad was at my party, no one would realize how much I really idolized my dad at that moment.
The hardest part of writing this story was getting the facts correct. For example, I knew certain events happened to me, such as moving to my current house, but I didn’t know exactly when they happened. My dad, who happens to have the best memory, told me exactly when everything occurred (with a little begging of course). As I added more and more details I began to relive the early years of my life, remembering things that I never dreamed I did before.
One thing you couldn’t see when I was writing this story was the look on my face, a huge smile. This story allowed me to remember many things, which I forgot, and I am grateful that we had to write about this.
